2 members injured at Hempfield Twp house fire

Last evening at 7:58 PM, The Truck and Rescue Pumper were dispatched to Farmington Place in Hempfield Twp for a possible house fire. Captain 29 arrived and reported a working fire. Truck 24 arrived 1st due and the crew went to work. At 8:17 during the initial interior suppression operations, a Flashover occurred, at the same time, the on scene water supply was lost. While evacuating, the Truck’s 2 person interior crew became disoriented and lost and declared a Mayday. Less than 2 minutes later, the crew was located and assisted out of the building by the remaining Truck crew members and members from Greensburg Engine 8. 1 member was transported to the hospital by Mutual Aid Ambulance. The 2nd member taken to the hospital later in the evening. Both members were treated for burns. 1 member remains hospitalized, and the 2nd was treated and released.

Both members are expected to make full recoveries.

Crews arrived to a reported Natural Gas Leak on Mt Pleasant Street in the Borough. Gas was leaking from the riser of a meter set. Members contained the leak and secured area until Peoples Natural Gas arrived on site.
