Station 24 and the first alarm were activated for a reported house fire in the 400 block of Chestnut St in the Borough. Chief 24 Wright arrived on scene just over 2 minutes after dispatch and reported a working fire. Truck 24 arrived just after the Chief and went to work opening up the building and stretched the line. E79-8 arrived 2nd due and established a water supply to the Truck, and stretched the back up line. E32 stretched a 3rd line and E23 was assigned to the roof for ventilation. Due to the high temperatures outside, a 2nd alarm was requested. Crews on the interior had a difficult time accessing the fire. An additional 2 engines and Truck were later requested for fresh manpower.
The Fire was brought under control in approximately 60 minutes.
Thank you to many of our Borough residents who brought bottles of water from their homes and were passing them out to firefighters on scene until the arrival of Support 610.
